Daniel MacLennan

Profile

Daniel MacLennan is an associate at Peck and Company, where he focuses on criminal defence and regulatory proceedings. 

Daniel joined Peck and Company after receiving his Juris Doctor from the University of British Columbia in 2024. Before attending law school, he obtained a Master of Arts in Political Theory, where he developed a deep interest in the role of individual rights in a democratic society. This background continues to inform his commitment to fundamental legal protections for every client and his approach to novel legal issues.

Daniel has a particular interest in Charter litigation and expanding the law to protect Canadians facing criminal prosecution. In 2026, he will participate in an intervention before the Supreme Court of Canada addressing the presumption of innocence.

During his time at UBC law, Daniel received awards recognizing both his academic achievement and his commitment to civil liberties, which he demonstrated through his involvement with the Indigenous Community Legal Clinic, the British Columbia Civil Liberties Association, and the Law Students’ Legal Advice Program.

Prior to and during law school, Daniel also worked as a Law School Admissions Test instructor where he honed his ability to communicate complex issues; a skill he now employs to help clients thoroughly understand their legal options.
